Logarithmic Thinking in a Linear World

Allen & Heath Goes Digital, Better Late Than Never

Allen & Heath Logo

Well it’s not exactly Allen & Heath’s first venture into digital consoles. For those that may have forgotten their first product to market was the ICON a smaller format contender. Now they have resurfaced with the iLive 64 input digital mixing system and as expected from A&H it’s nothing short of stellar.

They did an excellent job of appealing to the masses of analog road dogs by engineering a very functional control surface that has an amazingly real, well analog feel. Each input channel offers a gate, compressor, limiter delay and parametric EQ. It has a LCD touch panel that is on par with it’s competitors however it does offer an additional VGA output for those wanting to incorporate a full size screen.

I won’t attempt to cover all of the features and specs of this piece of hardware. For that I suggest you visit the Allen & Heath web site. Before racing out to pick a couple of iLive consoles for you outfit be prepared to purchase the equivalent of two luxury cars. The retail price for these babies is a cool $49,999.
